Sun Traitors are a modern day, hard rock power trio from Melbourne, Australia.

Joining the Melbourne music scene with their debut release in 2018, the lads have become known for their hard hitting live shows and their original sound which draws on elements of grunge, metal, psych and prog.

Sun Traitors cover new ground musically on their second release ‘Dark Matter’ and the band also take a step deeper lyrically as the 5 track EP explores themes of dissension and struggle and the journey to personal elation and empowerment. Scheduled for release later in the year, the band will have to settle for a live streamed performance of the EP but plans for a return to the stage are already in the works!

Want to know more about the guys? Here you go!

Jim is a Melbournian by birth and spent many years honing his craft in the Ballarat music scene before returning home to ride the wave of the singer/songwriter era of the mid 2000s. Jim’s style has evolved over the years influenced mainly by hard rock, blues and early grunge and he likes nothing more than crunching riffs and solos through a cranked tube amp and delivering lead vocals loud and proud!

Iggy grew up surrounded by the musical culture and rhythmic influences of Maracaibo, Venezuela and started out playing in cover bands – predominantly early 2000s punk/rock tunes. It wasn’t long before Iggy expanded into more technical genres such as power and prog metal. Iggy always ensures the groove is deep and heads are banging!

Ed hails from Valencia, Venezuela and was mainly influenced by the NWOBHM and thrash metal bands growing up. Ed picked up the guitar in his early teen years and an interest in the bass followed soon after as Ed opened up his influences to blues, garage and hard rock bands. Ed’s low end tone is a thing to behold!
